Do I need a computer?
No all you need is a telephone, no computer or computer skills required
Do I need broadband?
No you do not need broadband, all you need a phone.
How does it work?
Once you have submitted your lists of numbers for your group we will put the lists on to our system and once this is completed you will be issued with a password to be used when you phone/e-mail or text into sport-text. Then every time you need to send out a text you can make contact with sport-text give the information and the text will be sent out.
Who will have passwords?
Once a club has set up with sport-text, the person who has organised for the system to be set up for the club will be issued with a password and that person will decide who else in the club can have a password, normally in clubs the managers/coaches will each have a password for their team.
How much will it cost?
The price structure is as follows
For groups of 50 recipients or less €1.50
How will I give you my lists of numbers?
Numbers can be given by email, or via regular mail. The numbers are normally given in a list format. For example

They can also be submitted on excel if the manager/coach is familiar with that format however just on a list via e mail is perfect as well, and for team managers and coaches that are not familiar with e mail a list on sheet of paper sent in via regular mail will work just as well.
What format should the numbers be in?
If possible the should be in the format of 353 before the number and drop the 0
For example 35387********
If it´s not possible to send them in this format the normal format will still be possible.
Who will pay for the service?
The club will be invoiced on a monthly basis. There is no cost to the manager/coach. All calls into sport-text are on a free phone number.
Does the price include VAT?
The price is exclusive of VAT
What is the VAT rate?
The rate is 21%
What times are the phone lines opened from?
The phone lines are opened from 8am until 10pm 7 days a week.
How can I get my text sent out?
Firstly on calling in, texting, or e mailing in you must identify yourself by the password (then we will know who your team is) and then give the message to be sent out.
What if I want to get a reply from the team for example if people can turn up for training etc?
If the manager or coach wants to get a reply in order to decide if an event will go ahead they can put their own number in the text for example
Training tonight at 7pm if unable to attend please contact 35387********. Then the manager/coach can follow through with their own plans as to what decision they make.
How many groups can I have for the club?
Normally most clubs have a list for each team and then usually a list with all numbers of the club. Any club can decide the combination of lists they want to put together. Sport-text can create new lists from from any lists submitted. For example to create a list of all the juvenile club we can amalgamate all the list and eliminate any duplicates, as a family may have children in different teams and to avoid a text which is meant for all the club going to the family more than once.
What is the protocol for persons under 16 giving their numbers to sport-text?
When the club has agreed to register with sport-text the club will need to sign our terms and conditions, these terms and conditions outline that persons under 16 years of age will have to have parental consent given to the club before their number can be submitted to sport-text
Is the data submitted to sport-text used for any other purpose?
No sport-text will only use the numbers provided to send out texts directed by the club. Sport-text only needs numbers and not names.
How do I know that everyone has received the text?
Sport-text can upon request by any manager check their records and see if there are some numbers never receiving the text, this may be due to a variety of reasons. Usually their could be a digit error in the listing of the number, or the person may be out of range however the system will keep trying to send the text if this is the case. Sport-text can investigate the matter if there is a persistent problem.
Can I text or e-mail the message in?
Yes the message can be text e-mailed or phoned in.
How soon after I have made contact with sport-text will my message be sent out?
As soon as the message is received the telephonist will begin the process of sending out the text normally the text should be sent within 3 to 5 minutes sometimes it can be quicker and rarely due to technical difficulties it may take 10 to 15 minutes, however this rarely occurs.
Will there be any cost to the end user?
No the members of the team will not be charged at all.
How many characters can be in the text?
Up to 160 characters, if it goes over this amount it will be charged as a second text.
What can I do if I am going to be away on holidays/unavailable to send out the texts?
The password can be passed on to another member of the management that is looking after the team in your absence. Sport-text needs to be informed of this temporary change in the password holder.
Is there anything else I need to know about how to use sport-text?
When the club is setting up the system it is very helpful if we have the mobile number of all the managers/coaches that is have a passwords issued. Then if there is ever a query about the content of a message sport-text can contact the manager/coach back to verify the message.
