The Best Solution to the GAA Under 18 Texting Ban – 021 4928947

Good News for clubs looking for a Solution to the New GAA recommendations

GAA clubs throughout the country are searching for a solution to the GAA’s new policy on texting under 18 players. The new policy is a step taken by the GAA to protect it’s underage players. The GAA are telling all clubs throughout the country that text messages can only be sent directly to under-18s with the written consent of their parents or guardians. Sport Text has the answer.

You can Ensure that Your Club Upholds the Ban

We ensure that all minors(under 18) must have written consent from parents to receive texts from Sport Text. This complies with the new policy.

Peace of Mind for Managers

Phone numbers will be held securely by Sport Text and not by the managers. Sport-text will store only phone numbers, no names or addresses. The manager will ring the freephone number, give a previously issued password and the text will be sent out.

Why Trust Sport Text

Sport Text has been implementing this policy for the last 2 years up to Under 16 level. We have now extended our policy to cover minors(under 18) in accordance with the GAA recommendations.

Cork County Board and Cork Minor Board are now using the service

Testimonial

“We have been using sport-text for our underage team. It has proved to be cost effective, reliable, easy to use and has eased the burden on all the managers and coaches. It has proved to be an essential part of our club structure.”

What the GAA has said

GAA Children’s Office director Gearoid O Maolmhichil said it did not make sense for middle-aged people to have the mobile phone numbers of young teenagers.

“Of course there can be an exception to the rule for a 16 or 17 year old where the parent chooses that that is the person, for domestic purposes or other purposes, that should get the text, then fine,” he said.
